冇 (Mǎo), derived from Cantonese, is a character with Cantonese characteristics. "冇 means not have anything, and the sound is Mǎo. It is the opposite of existence." Its definition is "nothing exist". With the concept of "nothingness", we hope to refer to a kind of "void" wisdom, the state of emptiness, which does not point to nothingness, but an infinite possibility of creation in an unrestricted and undefined free space. From the wild imagination and lost in choices at the beginning, to the re-cognization of oneself and establishing connection. We hope to provide a social camp full of inspiration and vitality for young filmmakers.

第二届冇国际青年影响周，我们呼吁,每一个电影人不要自困于批判和愤世嫉俗中，也将自己的眼睛与镜头，交付一部分给快乐的影像.不仅是照顾观众，我们也希望让电影创作者们回想起，拍电影本身，就是最快乐的一件事儿。

In MIFW 2022, we intend to appeal the filmmakers to wake up from the critical and cynical view, and turn their eyes and lens to the images of happiness, at least with some minimal space. Not merely to entertain the audiences, we also hope to make filmmakers to recall that filmmaking itself is one of the best pleasures in the world.

“冇”更多是作为影展主题上的意义来说的。没有主题就是主题，这看起来很矛盾，但我们想要的是给予创作者充分的自由，抛开主题对电影创作的束缚，让每个灵魂得到最好的表达，这与独立电影的精神相契合。人类社会中的每一个体都有独特性，每一种认真的思考都有其闪光点，如何处理自己的声音，是导演者自己的事情，我们相信唯有这样的声音，才最真实，最有价值。

我们从来没有忘记自己是从广州出发的，我们的初衷，也是为了给广州创造更多的电影公共文化空间，活跃这座城市的电影氛围，丰富广州作为国际大都市的文化生态。长久以来，广州都被说成是一片“文化沙漠”，这令生活在广州的艺术从业者心有不甘。我们都不满于现状，并相信这一切都可以改变，证明艺术在广州没有注定的败局。

冇.广州国际青年影像周是一个有态度的电影节，这与我们年轻的特质相关。我们喜欢打破常规，尝试各种新鲜事物，有许多稀奇古怪的想法，年轻人似乎要把身体里的一切尽数倾泻出来。独立电影仿佛是最适合年轻人的表达，它风格先锋粗粝，表达方式前卫不羁，年轻人能在TA一手创造的世界里畅所欲言。

凝聚更多的影像力量,让公众接触不一样的影像，传递独立电影的思考价值。点燃广州的电影热情，营造影视氛围，以新鲜力量的姿态为广州吸引更多影视业界人士。树立起一个专属于广州的国际青年影像周、影响力辐射国际的电影评价体系，为更多的平台以及艺术创作者提供一个最直接的沟通桥梁，同时也为影视行业内摩擦出更有力量的火花为青年电影人提供更多展示作品的机会，鼓励青年人的创作。我们根植于广州，期待挖掘更多的本土文化元素，将广府、潮汕、客家的人文元素以新的生命力示人。MIFW致力于寻找最有态度的创作者和观众，让影像散发其多元属性。我们筹划建立公益“星空放映计划”，为贫困地区孩子带去真正优质电影，好的电影不再是都市青年的专属。

“冇” refers to the meaning of the theme of the film week. No theme is our theme. It seems paradoxical, but we do aim to provide filmmakers freedom. Without the restriction of a theme, expression would emerge freely. This matches with the spirit of independent films. Every single subject in the society has its uniqueness. Every thought has its glitter. A director is the one to use his voice, and we have faith on these authentic and valuable voices.

We never forget that we started from Guangzhou. Our original intention was to widen the public cultural space and ignite the film vibe in this region. For long time, Guangzhou is regarded as a culture desert. Neither art creators nor we are willing to accept this. We all believe the artistic vitality in this city.

MIFW is a film festival with attitude, resulting from our youth distinction. We love to break rules, try new things, and spark interesting ideas. All these are from the desire to output the passion. Independent film seems to be one best way for the young to express. With a cutting edge and even reckless style, the young can speak whatever they what through this medium.

To establish an international youth film week exclusive to Guangzhou and a film evaluation system that is influential

around the globe, serve as a bridge for more platforms and artistic creators to directly communicate with each other, and also cultivate new talents with power for the films and television industry. Rooted in Guangzhou, we expect to dig into more indigenous elements and present our cultural elements in Cantonese area, Teochew (Chaoshan)area and Hakka area in a new look. MIFW is devoted to discovering creators and audiences with attitudes and allowing films to give play to diverse attributes. We plan to initiate a non-profit "Star Film Showing Project" to bring real quality films for children from deprived areas. Thus good films aren't exclusive to urban youth.
